Sumak

It is a rug kind that is obtained with aligning of colourful pattern yarns on warp yarns in various ways.

Patterns are like processed in layers as the patterns are given by wrapping and a second colourful yarn string on the same pattern by reversing again.

On the back side, flabby colourful yarns are seen as in cicim and zili.

As technically, there are six different types as “flat sumak, weftless flat sumak (atkısız), herringbone sumak (balık sırtı sumak), herringbone weftless sumak (balık sırtı atkısız sumak), reverse sumak, crosswise alternative sumak”.
