HANDPRİNT EMBROİDERY 

This is the second commonly used technique especially in old Turkish embroidery after Hesap works.

Although there are various techniques, the most important ones are given below:  

- Cross Stitch: This technique is applied by counting and removing the designated sample for a perforated fabric known with the same name. ‘Etamine work’ is quite similar to this technique.  

- Kasnak (hoop) Work: This technique is applied by stretching fabrics on a hoop or frame. Due to its resemblance to chains, it is also referred to as ‘chain work’. Any motif designated for this technique must be embroidered in a circular manner.  

- Chinese Needle: Although it resembles pesent work in its appearance, its embroidery technique is quite different. Three or four shades of the same colour are serially alternated in the motifs. Shades from dark to light are blended together.  

- Herringbone: This technique is applied in the manner appropriate to the given motif without counting the yarns. It is an easy and commonly used technique.
