Edirne Musuem of Archeolgy was opened in 1925 whereas Museum of Ethnography was opened in 1936 in the madrasah located in the court of Selimiye Mosque.

Wooden works of art are on display in three seperate sections.

Woman heads made of terracotta,
Steles of horseman depicting the cavaliers of Thrace,
Statues pertaining to Roman Period,
pieces of fossil belonging to various animals which date as back as one million year away from today and 30 – 35 millions years ago,
Prehistorical works of art belonging to Odrysian Kingdom,
Dolmen of Hacılar, Dolmen of Arpalık and findings that were obtained from Taşlıca Bayır Tumulus excavations,
Thrace coins of Hellenistic Kings, Roman and Byzantine coins are exhibited.
In the garden of the museum, Ion, Aiol, Corinth, Byzantine column headers, various architectural pieces and an altar with Eros relief upon which is decorated with mythological creations; dolmens and menhir that were taken from Lalapaşa Hacılar Village are on display.
Section of Ethnography
Silver creation with sultan’s signature, rugs of Gördes, seccade and Şarköy carpets of XIX, coins that were minted in Ottoman Period, and treasures can be seen.
Handworks, wooden examples that were made via Edirnekarî technique of XVII, different goods used in palaces, woman and man clothes, tools belonging to various handicrafts are exhibited in this salon.
