Çorum Museum

Çorum and its near neighbourhood are important as they head a list of regions that hold local culture and tradition of art of Anatolia which has gone on for thousands of years. Çorum City which stages important cultures, civilizations in Prehistoric Era and History Ages, covers a great wide area in the north of Mİddle Anatolia and inner parts of Middle Black Sea Region.
The museums of Çorum serve as a single unit in three seperate places with two local museum that depending on the center and the Historical Sites. In 1940, Alacahöyük Museum came into service; in 1966, Boğazköy Museum in the ancient capital city of of Hittites, Hattusa; and in 1968, Çorum Museum were opened.

Çorum Museum

The building of the museum which dates back to 1332, previously used as a Hospital, School of Agriculture, and Vocational High School of Engine. The core of Çorum Museum is organized by the creations from Alacahöyük, Boğazköy (Hattusa), Ortaköy (Şapinuva), Eskiyapar , Pazarlı , Kuşsaray and Alişar Höyük. There are also ethnographic creations in the museum.

In the first salon and hall, coins pertaining to Hellenistic, Roman and Byzantine Periods, ceramics, vessel of perfume made of glass, bottles of tears, figurines and statuettes, pots of offering, stels, sarcophagus and heads of columns, ornamental goods are typologically exhibited.

In the second salon, pots with beaks, bath vessel of Hittite Period, pot with the shape of canteen, vases, orchards, ritons, molds, melting pots, massive fissures, pots whose tops are dyed dating back to Phrygian Period, multicolour wall tablets made of terracotta, upon which is embossed are exhibited.

In the port of the salons, ceramics in various forms belonging to Chalcolithic Period and Late Bronze Age, idols, axes made of stone and bronze, spearheads and pots from Alişar can be seen.

In the third and fourth salons, rugs and carpets reflecting the characteristics of Çorum Region, women dresses, jewelery and ornamental goods, weapons pertaining to Seljuk and Ottoman Periods, works of art made of wood and metal, religious hadwritten books are exhibited.

In the garden, fountain with the portrait of bull belonging to Hittite Period, statues of Roman and Byzantine Periods, stelles of tomb and siltstones, epigraphs pertaining to Ottoman Period and tombstones are on display.
