Bolu Museum which was opened in 1981, consists of 2 salons, one is archeology, and the other one is
ethnograpy.
In the museum, there are totally 14566 pieces of creations. The classification of these items is given as below:
2631 of them are archeological creations,
1590 pieces of them are ethnographic creations,
10345 pieces of coins exist.
In the Salon of Ethnograpy, each ethnographic material of 19th century and the first half of 20th century which has been by the Turks in recent years, is on display that forms the subject unity. Also, all of them are exhibited according to their local features. Among the creations exhibited, there are handwritten books and tablets of various calligraphies.

The Salon of Archeology
This salon in which the creations of Roman Period are predominantly exhibited, also hosts the creations belonging to Neolithic Age (8000-5500 BC) when the humankind became residents in special areas, Bronze Age (3000-1200 BC), Urartian (900-600 BC), Phrygian (750-547 BC), Lydia (700-547 BC), Classical Era (475-330 BC), Hellenistic Period (330-30), Roman Period (30 BC-395) and items made of materials such as stone, metal, terracotta, glass in Byzantine Period (395-1453).
The creations of Roman Period are on display as 4 separate groups. These are the exposures of sculpture, terracotta, glass and metallic creations.
Among these creations, the statue of Heracles, woman head, bust of Hermes and Asclepios the God of Medicin, the statuettes of his daughter Hygieia and his accomplisher Telesphoros; the foundlings of Yığılca Hacılar Village and Çaygökpınar Village in Bolu city centre; the statuettes of Zeus, Apollon, Hermes and figured gem stones for rings are the most noteworthy works of art.
The Section of Coins:
In the very first group of rich coin collection which is displayed as 3 separate parts, the coins of Greek city and coins of kings exist. In the second group, coins pertaining to Roman and Byzantinen Emperors are chronologically exhibited. In the section of Islamic coins, coins and treasures of the Umayyad Dynasty, Artuqid, Seljuk, Ilhanli, Ottoman Periods are on display according to their own groups.
The most significant creations of the section of coins are those of Greek City and the treasures of Ottoman Period.
Demonstration Garden:
In the garden of culture site, architectural pieces consisting of columns, column headings, power sockets, blocks of architrave and dimensional creations are exhibited in groups. Directorate of Bolu Museum
