Bilecik – Söğüt Ethnography Museum

Söğüt which was the first capital of the Ottomans, is a district of Bilecik today.

Söğüt Ethnography Museum is an important structure which preserves the fundamental historical works of art of the city.

After being restored, it was open as a museum for visitors in 1981.

In the museum, there are ethnographic and archeological creations belonging to Yörüks who lived in the region; the banner of Ertuğrul which was given to the ruler of Karakeçili Yörüks by Abdülhamit II in 1891, old clothes, and apart from the ethnographic creations such as historical hand made carpets and rugs, Ottoman examples of ceramics handed over from İznik Museum and coins pertaning to Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman Periods.

The museum is open everyday except Mondays from 08.30-17.30 pm.
